2017 a AtualAvaliação do Impacto do Programa Criança Feliz
Trata-se de um estudo randomizado controlado, cujo objetivo é avaliar o impacto do Programa Criança Feliz, recentemente lançado pelo Ministério do Desenvolvimento Social e Agrário do Brasil. O Programa Criança Feliz tem, entre seus objetivos principais, promover o desenvolvimento de crianças de até 6 anos de idade, que vivem em situação de vulnerablidade, por meio da promoção da interação parental. O Programa Criança Feliz contará com Visitadoras treinadas para promover a interação parental, as quais visitarão semanalmente as famílias inseridas no programa. O estudo aqui proposto tem como objetivo avaliar o impacto do Programa Criança Feliz sobre o desenvolvimento infantil. Para isso, será empregado um estudo randomizado controlado que incluirá um total de 4000 crianças (2000 no grupo intervenção e 2000 no grupo controle), de sete estados brasileiros (um de cada uma das cinco regiões, exceto a região Nordeste, que participará com 3 estados). Serão elegíveis para o estudo de avaliação crianças participantes do Programa Bolsa Família (que fazem parte da população alvo do Programa Criança Feliz), com menos de 12 meses de idade, cujos pais ou responsáveis aceitem participar do Programa Criança Feliz e do estudo de avaliação do Programa Feliz. O estudo de avaliação do programa incluirá uma avaliação de linha de base (prevista para iniciar em 2017) e três acompanhamentos anuais, até o ano de 2020, quando os participantes da avaliação estiverem com 36 meses de idade. Para avaliação do desenvolvimento infantil serão empregados os testes "Ages & Stages Questionnaire" (ASQ-3) (nas visitas de 12 e 24 meses) e o teste de Bayley-III (na visita final, em 2020). A interação parental será avaliada com o instrumento "Maternal Cognitive Sensitivity", que será aplicado a uma subamostra de 400 mães (200 do grupo intervenção e 200 do grupo controle).

2011 a AtualAcompanhamento aos 30 anos de idade dos adultos jovens pertencentes à coorte de nascimentos de 1982: influências precoces e contemporâneas sobre a composição corporal, capital humano, saúde mental e precursores de doenças crônicas complexas. Pelotas, RS.
Os principais objetivos desta proposta são: - Investigar determinantes precoces da saúde na infância, adolescência e adulta, em um país de renda média em rápido processo de transição; os desfechos principais incluem a nutrição e composição corporal, precursores de doenças crônicas complexas, saúde mental e capital humano. - Coletar dados de qualidade sobre o estado nutricional e de saúde que serão utilizados como variáveis de exposição para desfechos a serem coletados em futuros acompanhamentos da coorte. - Aumentar o trabalho multi-disciplinar envolvendo epidemiologia, estatística, clinica médica, antropologia e biologia molecular: -expandindo nosso banco biológico com material genético e sorológico; -fortalecendo nossa capacidade de pesquisa em epidemiologia genética e estatística; - promovendo a integração entre a pesquisa epidemiológica e antropológica, para aumentar o entendimento dos desfechos em saúde, fatores de risco comportamentais e associações entre fatores de risco e desfechos. - Fortalecer e expandir a rede de colaboração dos cinco estudos de coortes na Índia, Guatemala, África do Sul, Filipinas e Brasil que tem sido desenvolvida nos últimos anos; também pretendemos fortalecer a nossa colaboração com pesquisadores britânicos (University of Bristol, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and University College London). -Disseminar os resultados das pesquisas para cientistas, tomadores de decisão e a comunidade envolvida em nossas pesquisas.

2011 a AtualAvaliação de composição corporal em crianças, adolescentes e adultos pertencentes às coortes de nascimentos de Pelotas, RS de 1982, 1993 e 2004
a)Comparar a composição corporal de crianças, adolescentes e adultos em uma cidade de porte médio no sul do Brasil; b)Avaliar os determinantes precoces da composição corporal de crianças, adolescentes e adultos; c)Coletar informações confiáveis de composição corporal para que sejam avaliados os efeitos em longo prazo da composição corporal por meio de acompanhamentos posteriores das coortes de Pelotas.

2009 a AtualAconselhamento nutricional da estratégia de Atenção Integral às Doenças Prevalentes na Infância (AIDPI): segurança e sustentabilidade da intervenção em Pelotas, Brasil
Objetivos A)Avaliar a segurança do aconselhamento nutricional, comparando os adolescentes dos dois grupos (intervenção e controle), dez anos após a intervenção, quanto a: 1)peso e altura médios 2)composição corporal B) Avaliar a sustentabilidade da intervenção nutricional comparando os adolescentes de ambos os grupos quanto: a) duração do aleitamento materno b) preferências alimentares atuais c) freqüência semanal de consumo de alimentos saudáveis e não saudáveis.

2009 a AtualInfluências precoces e contemporâneas sobre a composição corporal, capital humano, saúde mental e precursores de doenças crônicas complexas em três coortes de nascimento (1982, 1993 e 2004).
Este projeto dá continuidade às três coortes de nascidos vivos em Pelotas, RS, em 1982, 1993 e 2003. Seu foco é em desfechos relacionados à nutrição e à composição corporal, precursores de doenças crônicas complexas, saúde mental e capital humano. As principais exposições incluem características genéticas, condições dos primeiros anos de vida (prematuridade, restrição do crescimento intrauterino, amamentação, subnutrição na infância, etc), e exposições ambientais e sociais precoces, com ênfase na iniqüidade socioeconômica. A coleta de DNA também permitirá que seja avaliada a interação entre genética e ambiente.
